Copper Country Coalition for a Drug-free
Community Logic Model
Assumptions
In order to reduce alcohol, marijuana and other
drug use by youth, a community-wide intervention
is needed.
To ensure that the intervention will be relevant
to youth, they must be involved in planning and
implementation.
Current community norms are accepting of
alcohol, marijuana and other drug use in the
community.
Reduced availability of alcohol will reduce
alcohol, marijuana and other drug use by youth.
Use of alcohol by youth can be reduced through:
- An outreach
campaign that addresses alcohol, marijuana
and other drug use in youth
- Education
about the penalties of selling and/or
supplying alcohol to underage youth
- More
stringent monitoring of sales of alcohol to
underage youth
Unstructured time
leads to experimentation with alcohol, marijuana
and other drugs by youth.
Protective factors decrease the risk of alcohol,
marijuana and other drug use by youth.
Risk factors increase the risk of alcohol,
marijuana and other drug use by youth.
Providing a variety of youth programs will
- increase
protective factors and decrease risk factors
- reduce
unstructured time
- reduce
alcohol, marijuana and other drug use by
youth
Increasing
parental understanding of protective and risk
factors will lead to increased protective
factors and reduced risk factors in their
children.
